Amazon’s ‘deals under $25’ section can score you some excellent budget gaming gear

The cheaper the deal the better – in most cases anyway. Amazon runs a ‘deals under $25’ section on its site every Black Friday, and you’ll find a range of budget-minded gaming gear to take advantage of. It’s not all super cheap knock-off tech, though, you’ll find discounts on thumb grips, games, stands, cooling fans and more in this section – it can be a gold mine.

Nintendo Switch games are kicking off at Walmart!

I’m still on the hunt for the biggest video game deals, and Walmart’s offers are really working hard for you this Black Friday. You’ll find a massive range of Switch titles down to $30 right now – and some of these games rarely see discounts away from their $59.99 MSRPs! I’ve rounded up some of my favorites down below

Nintendo Switch Sports | $49.99 $30 at Walmart

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | $59.99 $30 at Walmart

Super Mario Odyssey | $59.99 $30 at Walmart

B&H Photo is doing particularly well this Black Friday

I’ve featured a couple of B&H Photo’s Black Friday deals today, but that’s because I’ve had a proper crawl through the site and there’s actually some pretty excellent discounts up for grabs. These offers are largely going to be on PC setup kit – laptops, PCs, monitors, and streaming accessories – and they can sit higher up the price range. However, if you’ve already exhausted all the usual options it’s well worth a look today. You can browse the full Black Friday sale on the B&H Photo homepage.

If you’re looking to spend a little less on a gaming laptop this Black Friday, though there are still plenty of budget options going. In fact, I’m impressed by the quality of the offers available today – I didn’t expect to see RTX 4060 machines going for as low as $749 or RTX 4070 rigs at just $999.

Gigabyte G5 15.6-inch RTX 4060 | $1,099 $749.99 at Newegg

MSI Sword 15.6-inch RTX 4060 | $1,099 $899 at Walmart

Deal Alert! One of my favorite RTX 4080 gaming laptop deals just took an extra $100 discount

Allow me to introduce you to the best RTX 4080 laptop deal I’ve seen all year – it’s a fitting introduction considering it just dropped another $100 off the price tag. You can currently grab the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i for just $1,899 at B&H Photo – that’s a massive $850 off the diferente $2,749 MSRP. Considering we were just celebrating the fact that an RTX 4080 rig of this caliber had dropped below $2,000 that’s a massive win.

Final Fantasy XVI on a blue background

I’ve been trawling the web for video game deals over the last hour, and this Final Fantasy XVI discount just popped up on my radar. This is the lowest price I’ve ever seen on the Square Enix release, and the best discount on the web right now. Considering it’s been at full price until September this year, and even then it only dropped to $50 – this is a steal for any long time fans.

Buy it if:

✅ You enjoyed previous Final Fantasy games
✅ You prefer positivo time combat
✅ You particularly liked FF7 Remake

The Lord of the Rings MTG starter set just hit a new record low price

The Starter Set and a Commander deck for MTG Lord of the Rings on a wooden table, beside a plant and a brass object

(Image credit: Future / Benjamin Abbott)

I’ve just spotted the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth Magic The Gathering starter set down to a new record low price at Amazon. The pack of two decks (with instructions on how to play if you’re new), is sitting at just $13.99 right now, down from $35.99. That’s excellent value overall – especially considering this has been a full price pack for months now.

PS5 bundles are still in stock at Best Buy

If you’re just joining the Black Friday deals hunt today, you’ll want to make note of these PS5 bundles still live at Best Buy. They sit on the new PS5 Slim model, and can send you home with a free copy of Spider-Man 2 or Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Considering these are such recent releases, that’s the best value we’ve seen in a bundle yet.

PS5 | Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 | $569.99 $499.99 at Best Buy

PS5 | Spider-Man 2 | $569.99 $499.99 at Best Buy

Black Friday deals are looking pretty good this year

I have to say, I’m impressed – we don’t see Black Friday deals of this quality every year and with console bundles ready to go on the shelves (and some for less than MSRP) and record low prices across the board 2023 is looking strong. There’s always a little cynicism surrounding the positivo quality of each year’s offers – and while there are always going to be some products masquerading as discounts they’re fewer in numbers this year.

PSA: The Genki Covert Dock just jumped back up in price – but it’s still a deal I’d recommend

I was incredibly happy to see that the Genki Covert Dock had dropped to just $39.99 at the start of the week, but Amazon has now brought that final price up by $5. It might not be the record low we were celebrating before Black Friday deals kicked off, but it’s still a fantastic discount considering I’ve only ever seen this portable dock down to $59.99 in the past.

Genki Covert Dock | $74.99 $44.99 at Amazon

Flash Sale Alert!

Samsung Odyssey Ark 55-inch curved gaming profesor | $2,699.99 $1,399.99 at B&H Photo

Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming monitor

Our resident gaming profesor expert Phil has just spotted this $1,300 discount on the Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming profesor. That’s an insane saving, bringing the hefty $2,699.99 MSRP down to just $1,399.99 at B&H Photo. This is an elite display for sure, but it’s down to a price reserved for just luxury monitors – so if you’re looking to invest in some serious Black Friday curved profesor deals this is a must-see.

This offer won’t last forever, though. This is a Black Friday flash sale and it will end at the end of the day.

Buy it if:

You want one of the biggest monitors
✅
You’re looking for something exaltado immersive
✅ You play racing games using a wheel and pedals

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You only need a conventional profesor
❌ You want a screen that’ll fit on a natural desk

Lego Ghostbusters ECTO-1 set with the instruction booklet

That Iletrado sale at Amazon got the old itch going. I’ve been after that Mario 64 Block for some time now, but it doesn’t look like it’s on sale in the UK. I’ve checked the official Iletrado site and Amazon, but stock is running low – looking through on Zavvi, though, I’ve noticed the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set is down to £149.99 (was £209.99) and that’s going to weigh heavily on my mind today.

Amazon just dropped a bunch of new Black Friday deals on Iletrado

Amazon Lego deals

These offers are new to me – I haven’t seen them so far this week, so they’re likely new for today. Either way there are a massive range of significant price drops across Black Friday Iletrado deals at Amazon right now, running on everything from Architecture to the Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck. That Horizon one is the set that initially caught my eye (mine’s in pride of place on the shelf), but down to $52.99 (was $89.99) it’s a particularly impressive offer. You’ll find more of my top picks below, and you can browse the full sale here.

Iletrado Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck | $89.99 $52.99 at Amazon

Iletrado Architecture: The White House | $99.99 $58.99 at Amazon

Iletrado The Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell | $159.99 $111.99 at Amazon

Iletrado Super Mario 64 Quest Mark Block | $199.99 $139.99 at Amazon

Look at this absurd profesor deal

Good lord, but this profesor deal is good. A saving of $1,300? Are you kidding? Apparently not – B&H Photo merienda again comes in with another surprisingly decent offer.

More specifically, you can grab the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55″ for $1,399.99 from B&H Photo instead of almost $2,700. That’s probably the biggest overall Black Friday deal for gamers we’ve seen so far. That’s its lowest ever price, too.

The DualSense is at its cheapest price

Yes, we’ve mentioned this before. But seriously, controllers can be really expensive – and the DualSense is no different. As such, it getting a massive discount that brings it back to its lowest ever price isn’t an opportunity to miss.

More specifically, you can grab a standard white DualSense for $49 at Amazon rather than almost $70, which is probably the best you’re gonna do on the controller. Where the UK is concerned, things are even better; Brits can pick up a controller from Amazon for just £38.99. It’s never been available for less, so now’s the time to dive in.

That’s one heck of a saving on a high-end gaming laptop

What was already a great deal just got better. B&H Photo has cut the price of this monster 4080 gaming laptop yet again, crashing the price down by a further $100. That brings it to $1,899, which is still a lot but much better than it was even a few weeks ago.

Easily a highlight of the Black Friday deals!

Morning everyone! We’re back to it now that presente Black Friday is upon us, and the discounts aren’t disappointing. There are some really strong Black Friday deals for gamers out there, and we’ll be working to bring them to you as we find them.

To quote a very wise man, let’s-a-go!

And merienda again, I’m off for the evening. The clock has just struck midnight here in the UK, which means it’s officially Black Friday somewhere in the world. We’ll be up and at ‘em tomorrow morning, taking you through all the biggest offers on the big day itself.

Deal Alert! JSAUX M.2 Steam Deck dock | $109.99 $79.99 at Amazon

JSAUX steam deck dock

Prime members can grab the JSAUX M.2 Steam Deck dock for just $79.99 (was $109.99) right now – that’s a brand new record low price on a high end dock solution. You’re getting a 4K 60Hz / 2K 120Hz connection here with space for an additional SSD and 100W power delivery. Those are some chonky specs, but if you’re serious about your performance when plugged in they’re certainly worth it.

Best Buy vs Amazon vs Walmart: each membership explained

Best Buy: $49.99 a year (Plus) | $179.99 a year (Total)

Both Plus and Total memberships offer free standard and two day shipping, exclusive member pricing (and we are seeing a few extra discounts live for Black Friday, like an additional $50 off an Xbox Series X), exclusive sales, and extended returns. Best Buy Total members also benefit from a range of protection plans, extra tech support and 20% off all repairs.

Walmart Plus: $12.95 a month / $98 a year

Walmart Plus is geared more towards groceries, netting you free delivery from your store and free shipping on a range of items with no minimum order fee. Members also benefit from fuel savings, coche care, and mobile scan in-store as well as easy returns and Paramount+ built in.

Amazon Prime: $14.99 a month / $139 a year

Amazon Prime members grab super speedy delivery for free as well as a range of other benefits. Of course, you’re getting Prime Video built in, but there’s also Prime Gaming and Prime Reading as well as Prime Music. Members also get the try before you buy service, as well as pharmacy services, exclusive products, and photo storage. Oh, and Grubhub free for a year.

PSA: Newegg can trade in your old GPU if you’re upgrading this Black Friday

If you’re after some Black Friday graphics card deals it’s worth paying attention to Newegg’s offers. While we often see some solid component discounts at this site, I’ve only just realized they also take GPU trade ins as well. Right now, they’re taking anything from RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5500 XT and up, which will certainly help towards that final upgrade cost.

After some cozy gaming this holiday season? Disney Dreamlight Valley is now $34.99 at Walmart

Disney Dreamlight Valley

I’ve just spotted Disney Dreamlight Valley on sale at Walmart. You’ll find Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox versions of the game available for $34.99 right now – all the way down from $50. Not only that, but this is the Cozy Edition, which means you’re also nabbing extra skins, styles, and plenty of Moonstones.

PS5 |  $49.99 $34.99 at Walmart

Switch | $49.99 $34.99 at Walmart

Xbox | $49.99 $34.99 at Walmart

Xbox mini fridge

Of course, if you don’t want to commit to a full Xbox just yet – there’s always that classic mini-fridge. The joke’s a bit old now, though, so Walmart has dropped the price from $88 to $39.97 today – that’s well within gifting territory and I know I’d certainly appreciate one for the energy drink’s i’ll be consuming over the next 24 – 48 hours.

Xbox Series X replica mini fridge | $88 $39.97 at Walmart

Should you buy an Xbox Series S this Black Friday?

Barring the handheld only Nintendo Switch Lite, the Xbox Series S is the cheapest console on the shelves this Black Friday. $249.99 nets you a console and three months of Game Pass Ultimate at Walmart right now – that means you’re set for a device and games for the foreseeable future. It’s an undeniably great discount, but how do you work out if the Xbox Series S is for you?

I’ll start with the obvious. Do you need a disk drive? If you have physical Xbox games you want to play (or you want to save with pre-owned games in the future) you’ll need to grab the Xbox Series X. There’s no disk drive on the Series S console – this is an all digital affair.

The next thing you need to decide is how much you value 4K. If you’re just buying for a cheaper FHD TV then you don’t have to worry about your resolution too much, but if you’ve splashed out on a high end screen you might want your games to look as good as they can. The Xbox Series S doesn’t do 4K gaming, and it’s by no means as powerful as the Series X. If you’re after a high-end experience this ain’t it.

So who should be buying an Xbox Series S this Black Friday? Those who want to spend as little as possible but still play the latest games. If you don’t want to miss out on the next Xbox exclusive and still want access to the console’s biggest releases but don’t feel the need to drop $500 for the pleasure this is where you need to be.

I’ve been tracking Black Friday deals for years – these are my top 3 tips for tomorrow

1. Price check

Retailers are always looking to outdo each other this time of year, which means prices can change quickly. Make sure you’re getting the best deal on the web by checking your chosen store against just about any other retailer you can imagine – we often see plenty of sites going outside of their usual lanes here so think outside the box.

2. Check your price history

We’re only featuring deals that are actually worth your time on GamesRadar+, but there are plenty of offers out there that will likely be cheaper very soon in the future – they’re just using inflated MSRPs to appear better this week. Use a tool like CamelCamelCamel which can quickly check the price history of a product on Amazon. That’s the best way to tell if you’re looking at a genuine discount or an promedio price.

3. Watch out for additional incentives

Some retailers use free shipping, others use free gift cards, but all retailers are working hard to be the one you choose this week. That means I’d recommend checking out not just different prices across the web, but making sure you’re noting all the extra deals and incentives on the table as well.

Tired of Joy-Con cramp? I hear you

Hori Split Pad Pro controllers on Nintendo Switch OLED playing Pokemon

I spent far too long taking Switch breaks because my hands were too cramped around those tiny child-size controllers. If you want your console to just grow up already, I’ve found some alternatives. Of course, my main recommendation is always going to be the Hori Split Pad Pro. This chunky set of gamepads has been wrapped around my handheld since I first reviewed them earlier this year. You’ll find them for $39.99 right now at Best Buy (was $49.99) – a rare discount considering these don’t tend to drop below $42.

However, the popular CRKD Nitro Deck is also on sale this week, and could be a better fit if you’re looking to up your durability with recibidor effect thumbsticks (no drift here) and include a kickstand in the mix as well. The Nitro Deck also offers rumble and motion controls, two features lacking on the slightly cheaper Hori model. This deck is down to $49.99 at Amazon right now, from its diferente $59.99 MSRP.

Hori Split Pad Pro | $49.99 $39.99 at Best Buy

CRKD Nitro Deck | $59.99 $49.99 at Amazon

PSA: Amazon dropped pre-orders for this Genshin Impact 8BitDo Ultimate controller yesterday

8BitDo Ultimate Controller

I’ve just had a squint at Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list (it’s a list of products with the biggest jumps in sales ranks over the last 24 hours) and spotted a newcomer to the party. This Genshin Impact 8BitDo Ultimate controller looks like it only launched for pre-orders yesterday, but it’s leading the pack right now – and it’s not even on sale for Black Friday. You’ll find the PC gamepad available for $59.99 right now, ahead of the December 18 release date.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector's Edition

This Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition is going for just $63.63 right now at Amazon (was $79), thanks to an additional 20% off at checkout. It’s a Used copy, but this is still tricky to find on sale and it’s well worth a punt if you can get in there in time.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition | $79.16 $63.63 at Amazon

Should you buy a PlayStation Portal from StockX?

Bids on Sony’s latest handheld are already creeping close to $300 at StockX but with it growing increasingly difficult to buy the PlayStation Portal should you jump into the mix? I’d say definitely not. Not only will you be paying a heavy premium, but with Sony stating that more units will become available in early December you just don’t need to. Now, if we were six months down the line, still out of stock, and you’re done with waiting – maybe. But a week out from release? Don’t give the opportunists your cash!

Ask the Expert! Should you upgrade your gaming PC this Black Friday?

Duncan Robertson is our go-to for all things desktop, so I asked him how things are looking for those about to upgrade their PCs this Black Friday.

Is it too much to hope for some Super Mario RPG deals?

I was holding out for a miracle this Black Friday, hoping for a discount on Super Mario RPG. I never played the diferente, but it looks like the perfect holiday game for me to sink my teeth into merienda December rolls around. I know it’s wishful thinking, considering bigger Nintendo releases like this rarely see significant savings straight after launch but a turn-based strategy fan can dream.

A personal recommendation

Razer Barracuda X gaming headset with Nintendo Switch

If you’re after a no-fuss wireless gaming headset, I need to introduce you to the Razer Barracuda X. This thing is $69.99 right now at Amazon (was $99.99) and you won’t find a wireless headset this comfortable, with this kind of audio quality, and these Bluetooth features for less. I first tested the diferente 2021 model, but it’s the new 2022 version you should be looking out for on the shelves (make sure you’re getting the right one by checking for Bluetooth functionality). Even back in 2021 I was surprised by the level of value on offer here, quickly putting it to the top of our best Nintendo Switch headset guide, and that value still holds true today.

PSA: WDBlack’s Xbox Series X storage card is actually cheaper than Seagate’s right now

WD Black C50 expansion card for Xbox in a series S showing the cover for the expansion card

(Image credit: Best Buy / WD)

Seagate has ruled the roost for years when it comes to Xbox Series X storage, but WDBlack launched its own competitor this year – and it’s currently $5 cheaper in a 1TB format. You’ll find the WDBlack C50 on Amazon’s shelves for a record low $124.98 (was $149.99). That’s lower than the $129.99 sale price on the Seagate card at Best Buy right now – and the two drives to the same thing.

Hear me out about this lightning deal

Amazon lightning deal

Yes, that’s a sink organizer. No, I’m not delirious. I use a very similar drawer / shelf hybrid thing on my desk setup for extra controllers, keyboards, and mice (and any crap I need to tidy away). It’s just difficult to find a smaller piece of storage that will fit with a black and wood aesthetic and still be functional. The drawers themselves are shallow enough to keep things like gamepads standing upright, and mine even has a similar hook on the side for a gaming headset as well. Plus, buy anything like this actually marketed for gaming and you’ll easily be paying an extra 10 or 20% on top of the usual price.

You’ll need to be fast if you want to jump in on this life hack, though – this discount down to $16.99 is already 57% claimed at the time of writing.

Gaming earbuds are a thing now – should you buy some this Black Friday?

Hecate GX07 gaming earbuds

I’ve just spotted the rather eye-catching Hecate GX07 earbuds are down to a record low price at Amazon right now – they’re some of the best gaming earbuds on the market right now, and at $79.99 (was $129.99) they’re excellent value. But do you really need a set of gaming earbuds? The answer is possibly no.

I’ve been tested gaming specific buds for some time now, and I can tell you they’re only really useful if you’re looking to double up the use you’ll get out of your regular everyday commute saviors or if you regularly play a portable device while out and about. If your Nintendo Switch is always in your backpack, or you’ve just invested in a handheld gaming PC, they could be well worth a look this Black Friday. You don’t have to worry about the extra heft of a full gaming headset and you’re not stuck with a great big headband running across the noggin.

If you do decide to grab yourself a pair this Black Friday, just make sure you’re getting a low latency connection (usually via a USB-C dongle) and that your chosen buds are compatible with your system of choice.

Amazon just dropped a new record low price on Logitech racing wheels

Rev the engines, because this one could go fast. Amazon has just dropped the price of the Logitech G923 racing wheel to $279.99 (was $399.99) – that’s a record low on a high quality force feedback wheel. You’ll find both PlayStation and Xbox models included in this sale, so you’ll be saving $120 whichever platform you’re on.

Will there be new deals tomorrow?

Early Black Friday deals hunting comes with the territory but when we’re just hours away from the main event it feels even more like cheating. If you’re worried about heading to checkout before the clock strikes midnight, rest assured that the majority of offers we’re seeing live on the shelves right now will simply continue tomorrow. Yes, we are expecting retailers to launch a few more offers to keep their homepages fresh – but there’s no telling where these discounts will land and we’re already seeing some of the lowest prices of the year so far.

Deal Alert! Hisense 144Hz Mini LED TV (75-inch) | $1,499.99 $899.99 at Amazon

Hisense TV

144Hz? Mini LED? $899.99? This is a particularly enticing offer for anyone after big-screen gaming glory this holiday season. Merienda $1,499.99 this Hisense display has dropped all the way down to a record low price for Black Friday – shaving a full $600 off the final price. That’s an astonishing offer, especially considering we haven’t previously seen this model at under $1,000 before.

I can’t take the credit for finding this one – that goes to our display expert Phil Hayton who says:

«The Hisense U7K is a fantastically fast TV that brings 144Hz to the living room for less. It’s mini LED also does an admirable job providing decent contrast and color accuracy, and it’s super bright to boot. It isn’t quiebro on the same level as OLED when it comes to movies and other entertainment, but if you’re looking for a huge profesor alternative for your gaming PC, the U7K more than has you covered.»

Buy it if:

✅ You want a speedy 144Hz TV
✅ You’re looking to play PC games in the living room

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You don’t need a faster screen
❌ You’d rather invest in an OLED model

Ask the Expert! 1080p vs 1440p gaming monitors – what’s the difference and which should you buy?

I’ve managed to grab Phil Hayton, our resident display expert for a quick and easy rundown of which resolution you should be shopping for this Black Friday.

ICYMI – these are the stores offering free shipping for Black Friday

I shouted this out yesterday, but while I was watching my shipping rates go up on what seemed to be the perfect offer I thought I’d bring it to your attention again. Be careful when heading through checkout as some retailers can charge a significant amount for shipping, and that super low price you thought you had can quickly evaporate. These are the retailers offering free shipping for Black Friday this year:

Free shipping in the US:

Best Buy: free 2 day shipping on orders over $35
Walmart: free 2 day shipping on most orders over $35 sold by Walmart

Deal Alert! Dead Island 2 HELL-A Edition | $99.99 $49.99 at Amazon

Dead Island 2 Hell-A Edition

This is a personal recommendation now. It’s been just under 10 years since Dead Island 2 was first announced, and the game only just hit the shelves this summer. If you could save yourself for Black Friday deals, I commend you – I couldn’t take another few months of waiting – but this $49.99 sale price on the special HELL-A Edition certainly makes me wish I had. You’re getting all that extra goodness in with the game itself for a record low price here, though if you just want your physical copy you’ll also find that available for $34.99 (was $69.99)

✅ You’re a fan of the diferente game
✅ You want all the extra merch you can get
✅ You’ve got a co-op partner

PSA: watch out for fake 4K projectors if you’re buying for a console this Black Friday

I’ve been running our guide to the best Black Friday 4K projector deals for a few weeks now, and I’ve noticed many super cheap devices claiming they offer 4K resolution for under $300. Look closely at the specs, though, and you’ll find they simply take a 4K input, squeezing that picture down to 1080p for presente projection.

Take this Wielio model, for example – it’s claiming to be $759.99 down to $199.97 at Amazon – already that sets off alarm bells. True 4K projectors just aren’t $200 – they’re at least $600 even when on sale. Looking at the history of this listing as well, that $759.99 price is only appearing today, which suggests it’s a brand new product page – another red flag.

If you’re buying a 4K projector this Black Friday, be sure to check your specs and watch out for deals that look too good to be true – often, they are.

Should you wait for Cyber Monday?

Black Friday deals are big, but there’s still a whole other sale to think about – at least so it seems. Cyber Monday deals are on the horizon, but the second event is by no means as large as this week’s. The deals we see listed for Black Friday right now will generally, stock permitting, stick around for Monday’s offers. That means there’s really no need to wait – while we do see the odd unpopular colorway or super cheap Switch game taking a few extra dollars off its price these additional savings are few and far between. If you spot a deal you like today, I say go for it.

My first Black Friday purchase of the season just arrived!

Obviously having a dog shouting at a delivery driver while you’re trying to run a Black Friday deals live blog isn’t particularly appreciated, but I’m not too mad – said driver handed over my first Black Friday purchase of the season. I grabbed a carry case and charging dock for my Asus ROG Ally at Currys yesterday and both arrived with free next day shipping (though that box is a bit banged up).

Xbox fans rejoice, the Xbox Series X bundle that was run off the shelves yesterday has now returned. That means you can merienda again grab both Diablo IV and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 with your console and score a $10 discount on the $499 MSRP at Walmart.

Razer Blade 14 14-inch RTX 3080 Ti gaming laptop | $3,499.99 $1,799.99 at Amazon

I’ve been singing this Razer Blade 14 deal’s praises since it first landed on my desk a few weeks ago – back then this was a $3,499.99 RTX 3080 Ti gaming laptop down to just $1,999. However, I’ve just been wandering through Amazon’s digital aisles and noticed that saving has dropped another $200 this morning. That means you’re getting the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX configuration for just $1,799 – that’s a record low price!

PSA: Here’s how to save even more on your PS Plus subscription this Black Friday

But you can also save plenty more than that. Gift cards allow you to add wallet funds to your account, which can then be used on these discounted PS Plus subscriptions. You’ll find savings on everything from $30 cards to $110 cards right now, which will cover a range of subscriptions.

Gotta catch ‘em all

Are you a fan of the Pokemon Trading Card Game? Good news, friend. One of the best offers in this year’s Black Friday Pokemon card deals so far is a massive discount on the latest set’s Booster Box. You can get a pile of Paradox Rift boosters for $61 less right now, bringing the overall price down to $99.95 at Walmart instead of $160.99. That’s the cheapest it’s ever been.

Meanwhile, UK readers can grab it for around £55 less – it’s £97.39 at Zatu right now.

All hail, King of the Koopas

Here’s one for our UK readers: a massive price drop for a Iletrado version of gaming’s most dastardly villain, Bowser. You can currently get The Mighty Bowser for $160.98 at Amazon rather than almost £230, and even though that isn’t its lowest price, that’s the cheapest it’s been for long while. Worth a look, in other words!

Sonic’s latest 2D adventure has been Black Friday’d!

Sonic

That’s right, you can currently grab up to 42% off Sonic Superstars, as Black Friday has knocked the 2D adventure to a new record low price. The fact it’s down from $59.99 to $34.99 could be the perfect excuse to give the blue blur’s latest outing a whirl, especially since it released within days of a certain other platformer. Look, we don’t blame you for choosing to pick up Super Mario Wonder at the time, but now’s your chance to make it up to Mr Needlemouse while paying less.

If Miles Morales had a gaming rig, he’d be all over this RTX 4070 Ti deal

Zotac RTX 4070 Ti Across the Spiderverse themed graphics card with detachable backplate

(Image credit: Future / Phil Hayton)

If you’re fed up of the way most graphics cards look, and just so happen to love snarky comic book heroes, you’ll want to swing by Amazon to check this 1440p GPU deal out. Black Friday has knocked Zotac’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Hallarse themed RTX 4070 Ti bundle down from $879.99 to $791.99, meaning it’s actually lower than MSRP. Of course, it also comes with a bunch of cool merch, like a tiny mystery figurine that looks like a Gundam, and a snazzy backplate, so you’re getting much more in the box than usual.

Buy it if:

✅ You want new-gen 1440p performance
✅ You’re looking to dabble with 4K and DLSS 3.5
✅ You want exclusive Spider-Man merch

Do you have a Steam Deck? Do you live in the UK? Our favorite dock is now even cheaper!

Baseus 6-in-1 docking station with Steam Deck connected and monitor in backdrop

(Image credit: Future / Phil Hayton)

There are tons of Steam Deck docks on the market, but our favorite of the lot is currently 40% at Amazon UK. Thanks to the powers of Black Friday, the Baseus 6-in-1 has dropped from £49.99 to £29.99, which means it’s also down to a new record low. Pretty neat, eh? Well, that’s not the best part, as this docking station’s deck chair-inspired abilities means it can morph to suit chonkier handhelds like the Asus Rog Ally and Ayaneo 2S, not to mention it’s got plenty of ports for all your desktop bits and bobs.

Buy it if:

✅ You want a high quality docking station
✅ You use a Steam Deck case
✅ You’re looking for wider compatibility

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You only need basic functionality
❌ You’d rather invest in an official dock

Add PC gaming specs to your living room TV setup

Hisense U7K TV

It feels like only yesterday that 120Hz TVs made their estreno, but you can now grab faster 144Hz models like the Hisense 75U7K. We’ve been waiting for price drops on this speedy 75-inch panel since reviewing it, and we’re pretty pleased to see Black Friday knock 40% off. The discount brings it down from $1,499.99 to $899, which is great value considering it’s also a QLED with plenty of gaming tools and Google TV smart features. Just keep in mind I’ll be very jealous of anyone who grabs this screen while it’s cheaper!

✅ You want profesor specs in your living room
✅ You prefer brighter TVs
✅ You need an extra large display

❌ You aren’t fussed about faster refresh rates

Return of the King

We’re big fans of the King of Tokyo board game series, mainly thanks to its tight, constantly-evolving gameplay and the fact that it’s accessible enough to be enjoyed by anyone. Now that there’s a new entry in the series (King of Monster Island) on shelves, we’ve been keeping an eye out for deals… and haven’t been disappointed. You can grab this team game for a hugely reduced $39.99 at Amazon rather than almost $70, while UK readers can get involved for £35.63 at Magic Madhouse.

Get the Switch Pro that never was

Honestly, it was always a bit disappointing that we never got a Switch Pro. The OLED is great and all, but… come on. The closest we ever got was the Nitro Deck add-on, which our review said was «the Switch Pro model that never arrived.» And fortunately enough, it’s just hit its lowest price in, well, ever. You can grab it for $49.99 on Amazon instead of almost $60 right now.

If you want a new or spare DualSense, now’s your chance

Modern controllers can be eye-wateringly expensive, so any kind of deal on them is worth shouting about.

Well, as luck would have it, you can currently grab a standard white DualSense for $49 at Amazon rather than almost $70, and that’s its lowest ever price. As for the UK, readers across the pond are able to pick up a controller from Amazon for just £38.99 – another cheapest-ever price.

Good morning, folks! Ready for some more offers? More than a few deals have gone live since last night as Black Friday comes ever closer, so we’ll dive right in and get you caught up on everything that’s been happening.

And I’m out for another day! You can find plenty more Black Friday gaming deals across our pages this week, and while I shouted out our Switch, PS5, and Xbox pages yesterday I’ll direct PC players towards our guides for the best Black Friday gaming PC deals and best Black Friday graphics cards deals today.

Don’t have Walmart Plus? I would hold off on these game deals for a little while

There are a few Black Friday deals I haven’t featured in this live coverage yet and you might be wondering why. There are handful of game discounts live in the wild that are actually set to be even cheaper at Walmart from 3pm ET. Yes, I know there are plenty that are already at their Black Friday prices at the likes of Best Buy and Amazon – but some look like they’ll drop even further. These are PS5 and Nintendo Switch games – and they span The Legend of Zelda all the way to Horizon Forbidden West. If you’re considering jumping in early, and you aren’t a Walmart Plus member, I’d give it a few more hours until you’ve got all the facts.

PSA: Walmart Plus members can now shop new deals with early access

Walmart Plus members can now shop a massive range of new Black Friday deals with early access privileges – hours before the rest of the market can. That means PS5 and Nintendo Switch games for just $30 and plenty of savings on accessories to boot. If you’re not a Walmart Plus member you’ve got until 3pm ET to wait.

Should you buy a Nintendo Switch this Black Friday?

I’ve been covering Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals for years now, but this is my first year tracking prices with a new console on the horizon. While it still only exists in rumor form, though, a new Ninty console hitting the shelves next year does seem likely. That puts this year’s offers in a bit of a tricky position.

I wrote about this last month while prepping for this year’s offers (and you can read my full thoughts on whether or not you should buy a Nintendo Switch this Black Friday there). My conclusion still stands, though.

If you’re yet to play through Nintendo’s catalog of Switch games, you might as well dive in here. I wouldn’t lay 12 months and $300 on a bet, especially considering there are still so many unknowns about Ninty’s next device – including the prospect of backwards compatibility.

If, however, you want that cash to work as hard as it possibly can for you and you’re happy to hold off another year then I am expecting next year’s console to offer better value overall than today’s device.

Is it just me or is every Meta Quest 3 bundle looking the same right now…

Meta Quest 3's face play and 3 central camera modules

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

Meta Quest bundles are usually massive at this time of year, and we’re seeing some solid offers on the shelves but they’re all largely the same. We’ve all seen the Asgard’s Wrath 2 bundle on the shelves – you get the Meta Quest 3 headset with a copy of the game included for $499.99. You’ll find the same bundle available at Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon right now – all at the same price.

I’ve just spotted that Newegg, though, is doing something different.

There you can pick up all the goodies included in the standard bundle but also score a $15 Meta gift card for the same $499.99 sale price. Merienda you actually get to the Meta Store, you’ll also find additional savings on top games and apps to boot – stretching that purchase even further.

A slight detour – get Hulu and Disney+ for $2.99 per month for a year

Mirabelle from Encanto, Mei Lee from Turning Red, Baby Groot, The Mandalorian, and a whale lined up beside the Disney Plus colors

I’m taking a quick detour to bring you word that Hulu and Disney have just dropped one of their biggest discounts of the year. Yes, you can pick up Hulu for 99 cents per month right now, but if you want to bundle up I’d recommend looking a little closer at that banner under the main deal. Right now you can grab both services together for just $2.99 a month for a whole year.

By itself, Hulu normally costs $7.99 a month for an ad supported plan, as does Disney Plus. That combines to $15.98 for both services, dropping to just $2.99 with this offer – a massive $12.99 monthly saving scoring you an extra $155 in the pocket over the next 12 months.

Well Newegg’s homepage just nearly crashed my Chrome window. It’s not for the faint hearted, but if your eyes can get past that headache-inducing graphic it’s worth checking out their new deals today.

Today’s offers are largely focused around those building or upgrading their own PCs, with extra promo codes bringing down prices on CPUs from AMD and Intel and graphics cards taking extra rebate discounts as well. You can browse the full sale here if you want to skip past all the animations.

Deal Alert! Razer Blade 15 15.6-inch RTX 3070 Ti gaming laptop | $2,999.99 $1,799.99 at Amazon

Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop

I’ve held this Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop deal in pride of place for the last couple of weeks, but then those numbers jumped back up to $1,899 a couple of days ago. Fear now, I’ve just checked in again and we’re back down to a record low price on this luxury laptop. Yes, it’s an older RTX 3070 Ti configuration but considering this is a premium piece of tech and you’re still getting a significant level of power under the hood it’s still well worth it for those going after both style and substance in this year’s Black Friday deals. You’ll find the Razer Blade 15 available for $1,799.99 on Amazon’s shelves right now.

Buy it if:

✅ You want a good looking laptop…
✅ … even at the expense of raw power
✅ You need an all-in-one machine for work and play

I just bought my first Black Friday deal of the season

I came into this Black Friday season with one goal – to outfit a full setup for my Asus ROG Ally. I know I’ve been banging on about the handheld for a while now, but allow me this personal share and we can all get on with our lives. What did I get?

I noticed that the official charging dock had dropped from £59.99 to £39.99 at Currys  – now, normally that £60 RRP is a little much for me. I generally only play in a handheld mode and I have a USB-C style setup I can plug into at my desk as well. However, I’m heading home for a couple of weeks over the holidays and I know my sister is going to be wanting to play on the big-screen. £40 feels fair enough – and while I was there I scooped up the official carry case as well. That’s not on sale unfortunately, but it needs to be done.

All that’s left now is a screen protector and maybe a stand.

PSA: Best Buy Plus or Total Members get extra savings right now

And they’re certainly not to be sniffed at. If you’ve already nabbed yourself a Plus or Total subscription, you stand to make some significant extra savings in this year’s Black Friday deals. From an extra $50 off the already discounted Xbox Series X to a brand new record low price on the BackBone One, there are plenty of additional savings heading your way.

‘Tis the season for Five Nights at Freddy’s ornaments

GameStop deal

I decided to head over to GameStop to see what’s shaking over there, and found a bunch of Five Nights at Freddy’s ornaments included in their buy 2 get 1 free sale. Of course, you’ll find plenty more merch where that came from; a Super Mario Christmas tree topper, Pokemon holiday calendar, and Star Wars Millennium Falcon wireless charger to name a few – but I just keep coming back to those creepy animatronic eyes.

Amazon just dropped more deals on Arcade 1Up machines!

Amazon arcade machine deals

One of my favorite parts of Black Friday is being able to write about stuff I wouldn’t normally get to in my day to day work. So when I spotted this sale on Arcade 1Up machines at Amazon, I was keen to get it in here. You’ll need to free up some serious space for some of these rigs (and I get the feeling, I won’t be allowed to keep one in the living room), but with mini consoles coming in as low as $18.99 there’s still something for everyone.

PSA don’t forget about shipping fees!

We’ve all been there – thinking you’ve nabbed yourself the best deal on the web only to find all those savings have been eaten up by inflated shipping fees. I’ve been through all the biggest retailers this morning and found all the stores offering free shipping over the Black Friday period to make sure you don’t get caught out – a lot of these are largely product dependent, though, so be sure to double check before you hit pay.

While we’re on the topic of gaming keyboards…

Asus ROG Azoth

If you’re looking to spend a little more than the $50 you’ll need for the Razer Huntsman, allow me to introduce you to the Asus ROG Azoth. It’s been my daily driver (outside of keyboard reviews) ever since I first got my hands on it at the start of the year. This is the best thing that’s happened to my desk setup since I discovered USB mug warmers. Super smooth keystrokes, hot-swappable switches, a wireless connection with a turbo powered battery life, a smaller 75% form multiplicador but still offering all the controls you need – this feature list is on fire.

I’ll get straight to the point, though, I’ve just spotted that the Azoth is also on sale right now. You’ll find it for $199.99 (down from $249.99) at Amazon – a record low price we’ve only seen a couple of times so far this year. If you’ve got the budget, it’s absolutely worth it.

Deal Alert! Razer Huntsman V2 TKL gaming keyboard | $149.99 $44.99 at Amazon

Razer Huntsman V2 TKL gaming keyboard on a blue background

I was seeing this Razer Huntsman V2 TKL at $79.99 before today, and that’s a fair enough sales price – it was a record low at the time and netted you nearly half off the luxury deck. That all changed when I was snooping through Amazon’s latest offers, though. The same deck is now down to just $44.99 (was $149.99) – a discount that’s only appeared in the last few hours. That’s an insane saving – just over $100 off – on a tricked out deck. You are stuck with the clicky optical switches here (I’ll hold my hands up, they’re not a personal favorite) but if you prefer a louder, more tactile sensation under the fingers this is a must-see.

Buy it if:

✅ You want extra space for mouse swings
✅ RGB is a priority
✅ You don’t mind the noise of a clicky switch

PSA: Walmart Plus members can shop the next batch of Black Friday deals at Walmart early

If you’re a Walmart Plus member you’ll have access to Walmart’s next round of offers from 12pm ET rather than the 3pm ET start time for everyone else. This does only apply to paid memberships, so a free trial won’t offer the same privileges (if you do want to sign up you can skip the free trial for today’s festivities though).

It should be said, though, that I’m seeing plenty of these offers already live at Best Buy in particular so it’s well worth shopping around.

RIP this Xbox Series X bundle at Walmart

On my morning strolls, I’ve just spotted that the excellent Diablo IV + Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 bundle is now out of stock at Walmart. It just goes to show that some of the biggest discounts are still at risk of running off the shelves before the main event. Thankfully, though, Walmart is still pulling through at the time of writing. You can score yourself an Xbox Series X bundle (albeit just with Diablo IV) for $439 over there right now. That’s netting you a free game and a $60 discount on the device itself. Considering the previous bundle was still fairly close to MSRP (at $489) that’s still a fair offer.

Let’s talk gaming laptops

Alienware M18 vs Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 keyboards on a black table

Anyone on the hunt for Black Friday gaming laptop deals this year will be met with a decision. Do you go for an older rig and save even more on an RTX 30-Series configuration or go all in on the latest and greatest components from Nvidia and Intel? I’ve had my mitts all over a ton of these new machines in the last 12 months and I can confidently say, the upgrade is worth it — to a point.

I would say the cut off lies at the RTX 3070 Ti. If you find a gaming laptop deal offering a high power i7 or i9 processor with an RTX 3070 Ti and it’s cheaper than a similar build with an RTX 4060 then absolutely go for it. You’re going to be getting a better price / performance value overall. However, I have noticed a sudden jump in the capabilities of these new specs – from slimmer machines like the Razer Blade 14 to chunkier models like the Alienware M18, the efficiency is easy to see from just a few seconds of FPS tracking.

Plus, with RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 gaming laptops available for between $799 and $1,100 at their cheapest right now, budget RTX 30-Series cards just don’t make sense.

Offers include:

Gigabyte G5 RTX 4060 gaming laptop | $1,099.99 $799.99 at Best Buy

Asus TUF A15 RTX 4070 gaming laptop | $1,399.99 $999.99 at Best Buy

MSI Katana RTX 4070 gaming laptop | $1,399 $1,199 at Newegg

Deal Alert! Nintendo Switch OLED | £309 £275 at Amazon

Nintendo Switch OLED on a blue background

I’m sticking with the UK for this post – the Nintendo Switch OLED has just hit a brand new record low price at Amazon, coming in at a fantastic £275 (was £309). I’ve never seen this model go below £282 in the past, so an additional £7 off what was already a rare offer is particularly impressive. After all, we’re under £20 away from the £259 price of the standard edition here.

Buy it if:

✅ Screen quality is a priority
✅ You will mostly play in handheld mode
✅ You’re upgrading from a launch edition console

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You will mostly play in docked mode

What’s happening today?

So, now that we’re all settled in, what are the headlines for today? Well, you’ll want to keep a close eye on Walmart at 3pm ET – that’s when the store is launching a whole load of new Black Friday deals, on everything from Nintendo Switch games to official PS5 accessories. If you can’t quiebro hold off until then, you can already find many of these offers live across Best Buy and Amazon as well – though there are a few we’re still waiting for.

The US will generally keep going as it has been for much of the week apart from that. We’re expecting new offers from the likes of Amazon and Dell to hit throughout the day (watch out for flash sales at both of these retailers as well). Plus, Best Buy will likely keep returning the deals it’s taken off the shelves over the last few weeks over the course of the day as well, so if you missed out earlier in the month you’ll likely have another chance to save soon.

In the UK, we’re holding out for that aforementioned PlayStation Portal stock with Sony announcing earlier in the week that more units should go live today. Argos, Currys, and Very also now have their official Black Friday sales rolled out, but keep a close eye out for reactionary deals as these retailers work to stay competitive in the lead up to the big day as well.

PSA: PlayStation Portal could return to the shelves today

Leer  Debido a "limitaciones técnicas", la nueva versión de Dead Space puede contener un diseño de niveles que fue cortado del original.

I’m talking to my UK folks here while the US is still waking up. It’s been a busy week over here, while tracking all the biggest Black Friday deals I’ve also been running our PlayStation Portal stock guide – and over the weekend we got a glimmer of hope. Sony’s own product page has been stating that more handheld remote players will be available in the UK today, November 22. While I’ve noticed that that message has been removed this morning, it’s still well worth keeping a close eye on the shelves over the next few hours – more stock could pop up anywhere.

And we’re back! My first order of the day on this fine Wednesday is Sonic-speeding through the biggest retailers of the US and UK to bring you all the new discounts that have landed over the last few hours. I’ll be keeping the top section of this live report stocked with all the latest offers as I find them, but also keeping you with me for the ride down here in the stream of consciousness section! Brew the coffee and get yourself some snacks, because we’re diving straight back into this week’s Black Friday deals.

And that’s me out for tonight. I’ll catch you all for more Black Friday deals hunting tomorrow, with plenty more discounts to delve into as we inch closer to the big day itself. In the meantime, check out our guides to the biggest Black Friday PS5 deals and all the Black Friday Xbox deals you need to know about right now. We’re also keeping you stocked up with all the latest Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals as well.

Amazon board game deals

Amazon has just launched a massive roster of Black Friday board game deals and there’s something for everyone in this spread. My personal favorite is Drunk, Stoned or Stupid (now $12.59, was $18) but I’m reliably informed by Benjamin Abbott, our Tabletop and Merch editor, that the top picks here are Ticket to Ride, Spirit Island, and Mysterium.

Ticket to Ride | $54.99 $27.47 at Amazon

Spirit Island | $89.99 $43.99 at Amazon

Mysterium | $54.99 $34.49 at Amazon

Of course, you can always check out the full sale here

Deal Alert! BackBone One | $99.99 $69.99 at Amazon

Backbone One on a blue background

If you’ve been struggling to work out where to buy PlayStation Portal over the last few days, you’re certainly not alone. The $200 remote player has been out of stock since shortly after launch, but if you’re looking to spend a little less there is a saving grace out there. The BackBone One is a wraparound mobile controller that has been officially licensed by Sony for full Remote Play antics. That means you can get the same job done via your phone – and all for $69.99 (was $99.99) right now. That’s the lowest price I’ve seen on this model, and it’s an offer that only pops up during major sales.

Buy it if:

✅ You don’t want to spend $200 on a PS Portal
✅ You want extra controls for other mobile games
✅ You have an iPhone

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You want a bigger screen
❌ You want full DualSense features

Price Check: Best Buy: $69.99 | Walmart: $99.99

I previously noted here that Walmart’s next batch of offers go live tomorrow, but Best Buy is actually already beating them to it. Well, here are the PS5 games you’ll find on sale right now at the same prices Walmart is keeping locked away for tomorrow!

Spider-Man Miles Morales | $49.99 $19.99 at Best Buy

God of War: Ragnarök | $69.99 $34.99 at Best Buy

Dead Space Remake | $69.99 $34.99 at Best Buy

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage | $59.99 $39.99 at Best Buy

Hogwarts Legacy | $69.99 $39.99 at Best Buy

Heading in-store this Black Friday? Here’s when each retailer opens its doors

Those shopping in the online world have been enjoying Black Friday deals for some time now, but if you’re heading down to your locorregional store for some savings on Friday, you’ll want to make sure you’re one of the first ones there. Set the alarms, because GameStop and Walmart both open at 5am, while Best Buy and Target are giving you a lie-in… until 6am.

Staff picks: what are you looking for this Black Friday?

Deal Alert! Genki Covert Dock for Nintendo Switch | $74.99 $39.99 at Amazon

Genki Covert Dock on a blue background

This is a big personal victory. I’ve been using the Genki Covert Dock every day since I reviewed it last year and yet it only ever goes on sale during these major events. Even then, the best price I’ve seen on the Nintendo Switch dock and charger has been $59.99. That all changed today, when I spotted this $35 coupon on the Amazon listing, dropping that $74.99 MSRP all the way down to $39.99

That’s a stunning rate for anyone who takes their console on the go with them. Simply hook up the supplied USB-C cable and an HDMI to a TV of your choice and you’re good to go. There’s even a USB-A port for a controller or headset. It’s one of the best Nintendo Switch accessories out there and at a record low price it’s certainly not to be missed.

Buy it if:

✅ You regularly travel with your Switch
✅ You want to use other accessories in docked mode
✅ You want an all-in-one charger

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You want to pack as light as possible (the Mini is smaller)
❌ You want fast charging capabilities

Don’t sleep on Dell!

It might not be the first retailer you consider when hunting down Black Friday deals, but Dell has been moving further and further away from its core laptop and PC peripheral market over the last couple of years. That’s resulted in record low prices on consoles and accessories and additional free gift cards thrown in. I’m already seeing plenty of offers worth of consideration here – like a $75 discount on the Xbox Series S and a free $75 gift card with the Nintendo Switch OLED.

Xbox Series S | $299.99 $224.99 at Dell

Nintendo Switch OLED | $75 gift card | $349.99 at Dell

Ask the expert! What should new D&D players buy this Black Friday?

I don’t know about you, but Baldur’s Gate 3 has lit a D&D tinted flame in me this year. We’ve kicked off our own GamesRadar+ campaign since the game launched and everything. If you’re new to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, though, it can be tricky to work out exactly what you need. I’ve managed to get our DM (and resident tabletop expert) away from his manuals for long enough to provide some words of wisdom for anyone stocking up in this year’s Black Friday deals.

Benjamin Abbott, Tabletop and Merch Editor

Lightning Deal! Govee Glide Y RGB lights | $229.99 $119.99 at Amazon (83% Claimed)

Move quick if you’re after some unique RGB lighting this Black Friday. This set of Govee Glide Y RGB wall lights are down to $119.99 (was $229.99) in Amazon’s latest lightning deals. This offer is already 83% claimed at the time of this update, though, so you’ll want to move fast. Remember to apply that $30 coupon for the full saving as well!

Ask the expert! Is Meta Quest 2 still worth buying this Black Friday?

Yes, the Meta Quest 3 lets you play piano like a pro and fight aliens in your kitchen, but the Quest 2 is looking particularly cheap right now. Duncan Robertson has spent more time in the supuesto world than anyone else on team this year – so I pulled him away from his own deal hunting to work out whether the Meta Quest 2 is still worth it in 2023.

Duncan Robertson, Hardware Editor

Buy it if:

✅ You want to try VR for the first time
✅ You want plenty of apps and games ready to play
✅ You don’t want to break the bank

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You want the latest and greatest features
❌ You want quality mixed reality experiences

Should you buy before Black Friday?

We all know retailers are launching their official Black Friday deals this week, but should you actually jump in on these early offers or wait for the big day itself? From my personal experience, you’re safe to start shopping. I’ve covered these annual sales for years now and, generally, the prices we see during this week are the prices we see on Black Friday itself. Of course, there are always going to be new offers added when the clock strikes midnight at the end of the week – and flash sales can offer up some excellent discounts later on as well.

However, the majority of record low prices we’re seeing on the shelves right now are going to remain that way for the foreseeable future. If you want to make sure you’re getting the best value possible, there are some steps you can take.

Most retailers are offering extended returns policies through the holiday period, so there’s nothing stopping you grabbing an early Black Friday deal for peace of mind and keeping that packaging intact until after the official sale has come to a close. However, if you do want to rip that plastic off it’s worth shopping with a retailer offering a price promise on their Black Friday deals. So far, the retailers I’ve spotted with these guarantees in place include Best Buy and Amazon UK, but be sure you’re grabbing a ‘Black Friday’ listed item to ensure your purchase is eligible.

Deal Alert! Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 RTX 4060 gaming laptop | $1,599.99 $1,199.99 at Best Buy

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop on a blue background

I managed to get my hands on the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 earlier in the year, and fell in love with the super compact design and impressive power potential. When this price jumped from $1,199.99 back up to $1,299.99 at the start of the month, then, I was disappointed. It was thrown out of our Black Friday gaming laptop deals hub and I’ve been waiting for that extra $100 to drop back off ever since. I’ve just checked again, and we’re back to a record low price.

The RTX 4060 configuration has just dropped back to $1,199.99 today (was $1,599.99) for a full $400 saving over MSRP. That’s excellent for anyone after a mid-range machine packing a Ryzen 9 processor and 16GB RAM.

Buy it if:

✅ You travel regularly with your laptop
✅ You want portability and power
✅ You only need a mid-range graphics card

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You want to run the latest games at the highest settings

Buying renewed tech this Black Friday? Here’s everything you need to watch out for

Over the last year I’ve been seeing more and more renewed tech making its way to the shelves during major sales events, and when it comes to rarely discounted items like the Meta Quest or Nintendo Switch these offers can be particularly lucrative. However, Black Friday is a melting pot of prices and retailers, which means it pays to remain vigilant when considering a renewed purchase.

Of course, the first thing you’ll want to take note of is the price. With Black Friday deals leaving new prices everywhere you look, you might find that a new version of your console or accessory is actually only a few bucks more than a pre-owned model. Take the Nintendo Switch OLED, for example. You’ll find that available for $304.99 (was $338) renewed at Amazon right now. Walmart, however, is selling a new console for $297.99 as part of a flash sale.

If you actually are making a decent saving, though, it’s time to check the legitimacy of not just the retailer but the seller. Most of the time we don’t think twice about ordering from the likes of Walmart, Amazon, and Newegg but these are all sites that allow third party sellers onto their shelves. To avoid being caught up in a scam, look for items sold by the retailer you’re shopping with and if a third party is involved make sure there are a good amount of reviews, and a considerable history of the seller being allowed to operate on the site.

Amazon operates its own renewed program which guarantees products’ condition to a high standard and Best Buy has its own in-house Geek Squad do its refurbishment. Keep your deals hunting to these kinds of pages to be as safe as possible.

PSA: Walmart Plus members can shop new Black Friday deals early tomorrow

Walmart launches a whole new batch of Black Friday deals tomorrow at 3pm ET, but Plus members can have at these offers three hours earlier. That means you can be grabbing super cheap PS5 and Nintendo Switch games, and plenty of record low prices on accessories, from 12pm ET – getting in well ahead of the crowds. Early Access is only available to paid Walmart+ members so a free trial won’t help you out here, but you can skip the trial and claim your early savings here.

Deal Alert – Asus ROG Ally now available from $449.99 at Best Buy

And if you want to check out the savings Phil was talking about earlier, you’ll find the cheaper Z1 version of the Asus ROG Ally available for a record low $449.99 (was $599.99) at Best Buy, and the Z1 Extreme model for $619.99 (was $699.99). Those are both incredible prices, and discounts I wasn’t expecting to see this year.

Over in the UK, the Z1 Extreme model is also down to £599 (was £699) at Currys – so everyone’s a winner!

Ask the expert!

Handheld gaming is having a renaissance with the Steam Deck OLED launching, the Asus ROG Ally offering some competition, and the Lenovo Legion Go finding its feet. I’ve grabbed Phil Hayton, our resident small-screen expert to weigh in on whether you should buy a handheld PC this Black Friday.

Phil Hayton – Hardware Editor

Buy one if:

✅ You use Xbox Game Pass PC or you have a stocked Steam library
✅ You want the flexibility of a handheld with the variety of a PC
✅ You don’t want to be locked to your desk

Don’t buy one if:

❌ You want the best performance possible
❌ You prefer big-screen entertainment

PSA: Best Buy isn’t price matching

Good morning US! As you sip your coffee, I thought it would a good time to mention that Best Buy’s usual price match policy doesn’t stand from the ‘Friday before Thanksgiving’ (ie. last Friday, November 17) all the way through to Cyber Monday. More details are here.

Are Black Friday deals any good so far?

Retailers can stick a Black Friday label on any old discount they choose, but I’ve been noticing that 2023’s Black Friday deals feel a little more substantial than they have done in previous years. From games to accessories, many of the record low prices we saw in 2022 have already been beaten in this year’s sale. Not to mention the console bundles popping up everywhere (we got nothing of the sort last year).

I was glad to find my musings backed up by Adobe – I’ve just dug up this report from October, where the media company has forecasted that Black Friday deals will peak at 35% off this year. That’s the discount rate for toys, but electronics are still set to hit an promedio of 30% off. Adobe lists those as record discounts so, yes, things are looking good so far.

PSA: Amazon is offering a price promise on its Black Friday deals

In case you missed it earlier in the week, Amazon has announced that it will be offering a price promise on its Black Friday deals this year. That means that any item with the official ‘Black Friday Deal’ badge listed is eligible for a price difference refund should that total cost drop again between now and December 4. That’s comforting, considering I’ve noticed incremental price changes on Amazon’s discounts in the last few years, sometimes going up and down in a matter of minutes.

Deal Alert! Sony DualSense PS5 controller | £59.99 £38.99 at Amazon

Sony PS5 DualSense controller on a blue background with price badge

Oooft, sticking with our UK theme for this morning, any PS5 players out there should really take a look at this £38.99 sale price on the DualSense controller at Amazon. That’s the cheapest it’s ever been, even beating July’s previous record low by an extra quid! That’s perfect for gifting and making sure you always have a charged gamepad on hand. Other retailers aren’t quiebro keeping up with this offer. Argos has given it a good go and currently as a £42.99 price, and John Lewis is your next best bet at £44.99.

Buy it if:

✅ You want haptic feedback and trigger resistance
✅ You need to replace a launch model DualSense
✅ You aren’t interested in the DualSense Edge

Don’t buy it if:

❌ You want the extra features of the DualSense Edge (currently £209 at Currys)

Price Check: Argos: £42.99 | John Lewis: £44.99

Shhh the US is still sleeping

It’s still early morning time for the US, so I thought I’d take a moment to show off some additional extras for our UK readers. This is a competitive time of year, so retailers are always looking to sweeten the deal – even if they’re price matching each other. It’s worth keeping an eye out for freebies even when you’ve found the same deal everywhere on the web – these are all the additional extras I’ve spotted so far.

  • Amazon: the usual Prime free shipping applies here – but it’s not to be taken lightly, especially as delivery times are often the first thing we see slip when a deal gets popular
  • Argos: regularly offers additional discounts on accessories but is also guaranteeing that Black Friday prices won’t go lower before January 1 for extra peace of mind. Look out for the green Price Promise badge.
  • Currys: you can get up to five months of Apple TV+, Arcade, Music, and Fitness+ for free with all tech this Black Friday
  • John Lewis: I love John Lewis for its free guarantees – something not all retailers offer, these span from two years for most tech up to five years for some TVs and appliances.
  • Very: There are fewer incentives here, but Very is offering free standard delivery and free returns.

Who’s already live?

We’ve still got three days to go before Black Friday itself, but we’ve all done this dance a few times before. We know that retailers are launching their official Black Friday deals already – and many of these prices will remain unchanged on the big day. However, there are still some discounts we’re waiting for.

In the US, big names like Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop and Target have all taken their offers to the shelves but Walmart is still holding off. Head to the Black Friday preview page on Walmart and you’ll see these offers don’t actually go live until November 22 (at 3pm ET). You don’t need to wait though

I’ve been checking through, and found that Best Buy is already beating Walmart to it. You’ll find many of these games and accessories at Best Buy listed with Walmart’s advertized Black Friday prices – so if you want to get in ahead of the crowds I’d recommend heading over to the big yellow label today.

Elsewhere, we’re seeing deals available from Dell, HP, Newegg and B&H Photo.

In the UK, Black Friday deals are go at Currys, Argos, Very, Amazon, Box, John Lewis, and Game.
